Discover Fiji’s world-class scuba diving
Fiji's nickname, the 'Soft Coral Capital of the World', is no exaggeration. The nutrient rich currents fuel explosions of colour, where soft corals in electric pinks, oranges and purples sway like underwater fireworks. But its not just the corals - Fiji's waters teem with life, from schools of tropical fish to majestic pelagics. Add to this year-round diving conditions of water temperatures (25°-29°C) and visibility exceeding 30 metres, and you've got a diver's paradise.
Fiji offers world renowned pelagic encounters with exhilarating shark dives - with over 8 species of these noble predators regularly seen - including tiger and bull sharks. Manta rays, dolpins and pilot whales are often seen and in season (between July to October) humpback whales visit Fiji's tropical seas.
Where is Fiji's Best Diving?
Fiji is well renowned for spectacular soft corals in every colour or the rainbow, teeming fish life and the exhilarating shark feeds that are found in Beqa Lagoon to the south side of Viti Levu. Most scuba divers head to Rainbow Reef between Tavuni and Vanua Levu, Beqa Lagoon, Bligh Water on the northern tip of Viti Levu and to the Great Astrolabe in Kadavu.
The western side of Fiji offers the beautiful Yasawa and Mamanuca Island chains however, the coral reefs are characterised by hard coral walls and do not offer the splendour or biodiversity found elsewhere in the Fijian archipelago. However, as the currents are very light in this region it is a great place to learn to dive.
